About This Voyage

Fourteen nights follow the Danube through its finest wine cultures, from the Wachau Valley’s celebrated Grüner Veltliners to Hungary’s historic red-wine country and the emerging vineyards of Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania. Across eight countries and as many appellations, this grand sailing from Vilshofen, Germany to Giurgiu, Romania follows the river where the grapes lead.

The Wine Experience Aboard

Glide through the UNESCO-designated Wachau Valley, framed by terraced vineyards and castle ruins, for a wine tasting in Weissenkirchen after exploring Dürnstein — or hike to Richard the Lionheart’s fortress first. Visit Melk Abbey, then descend into the historic cellars of Schloss Gobelsburg for a tour and tasting of Austria’s celebrated whites.

Continue through imperial Vienna and Budapest to Mohács for a tasting in Szekszárd, one of Hungary’s oldest and most celebrated red-wine regions. In Vukovar, sample regional wines in Croatia’s famed Old Cellars; in Belgrade, taste traditional Serbian brandies; and in Bulgaria, pair a visit to Veliko Tarnovo with a local wine tasting before journeying to Giurgiu, Romania.

Along the way, cruise the dramatic Iron Gates Gorge between the Carpathian and Balkan mountains. Departures: Nov 2 & 8, 2026; Mar 14 & 22, Apr 5 & 19, Jul 26, Aug 23, Nov 1, 2027; Mar 20, Jul 10, Aug 7, Oct 30, 2028.
